How can I contribute to #raise20run20?

There are 3 mechanisms through which you can contribute:

1.     Make an electronic payment through Paypal on our webpage!

Note that Paypal takes 2.2% of your donation as a fee.

2.     Send a check made payable to 3rd Creek Foundation to PO Box 5406, Incline Village, NV 89450

If you send a check, please send an email to Gwen or info@3rdcreek.com notifying us of the contribution amount. This will help us track our progress against our goal during the week.

3.     Make a pledge by notifying Gwen or info@3rdcreek.com of your contribution amount. We will then contact you within 1-2 weeks to give instructions on which of our partner organizations to send your check to. This method is recommended for contributions from donor advised funds (DAFs), for individuals who want to secure a company match, and for individuals interested in maximizing tax deductibility under the new CARES Act. *Please read the next section carefully if this applies to you!

3rd Creek Foundation is a private non-operating foundation, and there are a few things to know about this entity type in order to make a donation that works most effectively for you.

If you want to get your company to match your donation OR if you want to donate from your DAF: 

Donations to private non-operating foundations are tax deductible, but not to the same extent as public charities. For this reason, most companies don’t offer their employees a company match for donations to private, non-operating foundations. Similarly, since DAFs are also a type of private charity, there are rules preventing DAFs from donating to private non-operating foundations. Since 3rd Creek Foundation is passing 100% of the #raise20run20 proceeds on to our partners, you can still Make a Pledge! Instead of donating cash directly to 3rd Creek Foundation, you can donate the amount pledged directly to one or more of our US registered partners. This way you can still support the campaign in a meaningful way!

If you want your donation to #raise20run20 to benefit from recent changes made in the CARES Act, you may also prefer to Make a Pledge. Under the CARES Act, individuals who take the standard deduction are still eligible to write off $300 of donations to eligible charities from their adjusted gross income (AGI). Individuals who itemize their deductions are now able to deduct donations to qualified charities of up to 100% of their AGI. 3CF is NOT a qualified charity under the CARES Act, however, our US registered partners are! So if you’d like to maximize your tax deductions and still contribute to #raise20run20, please Make a Pledge!

While we very much encourage pledges for funds to go to our US registered partners, it is worth noting that we also deeply appreciate donations made to us directly by Paypal or by check, as we can prioritize that these also reach our international partners who don’t have US registration.
